Assistive products in the legal frameAccording to the terms of the Danish Social Services Act there is a legal distinction between assistive technology products and consumer goods.
Assistive technology products are products that are manufactured with a view to alleviate a physical or mental disability. Consumer goods are products that are manufactured with a view to customary use among the general population and with a wide commercialization.
Both assistive products and consumer goods can be provided by the local authority but with different consequences regarding economy and ownership.
